Days in the Desert

California is known for its music and art festivals, with Coachella and Stagecoach being two of the biggest examples. I love festival season because it gives you a chance to be creative with your outfits, and step out of your usual style box. For a few days out of the year, you can be totally different, crazy, outrageous, whatever you want! The freedom to create is endless, and I feel like each year gets crazier and riskier than the last.

It’s important to keep in mind that these festivals are in the desert, and by April it can easily reach 90+ degrees in the daytime. So, less clothing is usually optimal (sorry mom).

Because it was SO hot this year, I went with a baiting suit and a fishnet cover-up to match. I don’t like to spend crazy money for events like this because truth-be-told you may get very dirty from dust etc., and how often will you end up wearing these crazy pieces again?

I picked up this awesome Zara bathing suit top, and paired it with a Frankie’s Bikini bottom I had already. I was doing a lot of scoping online until I found this amazing Meshki cover-up. I thought it would be perfect and had just the right amount of bling on the skirt for it to work. I paired a simple Urban Outfitters fanny pack with the look, because let’s be honest when you’re in the hot sun you don’t want anything across your body or on your shoulder weighing you down.

Coachella and festivals in general are all about accessorizing and over the top jewelry. I put as much as my neck and arms would hold without making the look too cluttered. I found some awesome eye jewelry at TopShop and decided to go with a simple makeup look so the crystals around my eyes would pop. Hair back was also a must, because I didn’t want to deal with it at all throughout the day. French braids was the easiest and quickest hair look I could do by myself so I went with that. I’m looking forward to next year’s event, and pushing the fashion limits more and more.

Coco
